Lenses of Sight

Is the glass half full or half empty? It all depends upon the viewer of that glass! Islamic Jihadists commit horrific acts of terror and in their own mind (point of view) they are doing the right thing and they will be rewarded for it! Politicians argue about issues and most believe in the appropriateness of their point of view. A person views another person as evil, while another sees that person as wonderful. A person reading a chapter in the Bible and interprets it differently from anther person. Just about everything in this world is viewed in different ways depending on the perspective of those involved.  For those that had the opportunity to learn about Daheshism, it becomes clear to them that the perspectives that each individual holds are relative to the kind and level of Sayyals (Spiritual Fluids) that they possess. An elaborate chapter exploring Sayyals will be posted very shortly on the main website. I will post an announcement once it is posted.

Many years ago, I was asked by a friend to describe my impressions of a certain place. It turned out that my impressions were completely opposite to those of my friend. To explain my position, I came up with the analogy of people wearing tinted eyeglasses, with each person's lenses tinted a different color. When different people look at the same object, each will see it as slightly or radically different. In the broader sense, we all have different views of what we term as "truth, reality, and right and wrong." The day after this conversation, I decided to write the following poem:

Lenses of Sight

Dear friend, do you see what I see?

I've been wearing a pair of eyeglasses since birth.
It is odd, but everybody else is wearing glasses,
As if some kind of curse had befallen this Earth,
Or some disease had spread among the masses.

Yesterday my glasses had a yellowish tint;
Yesterday I saw a yellow cast in everything.
Today my glasses are of the same color as mint;
Today I see green in the face of every Earthling.

Tomorrow their color may be of any rendition;
Only God knows what tomorrow has in store.
For some, the lenses hardly change condition;
For others, the lenses change quite a bit more.

Tomorrow I may retain today's color scheme
Or try a different shade of the same hue.
Tomorrow I may have a color with a theme
Or another that is only worn by a select few.

Every day the same thing looks different,
As the tints of my lenses continue to change.
The reason for this change is not apparent;
Nothing else on Earth can be so strange.

I took off my glasses as I questioned my need
To my bewilderment, I was completely blind!
I put them back on so that I could proceed
To resolve this puzzle that boggles the mind.

What if our lenses contain no color variation
So that people evaluate things without sway?
Better yet, what if they are without coloration?
This way people can see things in a natural way.

Well, friend, we all have sight, but can we really see?
