On the Eve of Dahesh’s 98th Birthday Anniversary

Dahesh on his 71st birthday (1980)

On June 1, 1909, strings of mystical and invisible rays descended from Heavens and gave birth to a child named Saleem El-Ashi. This child was born into a very humble family of modest means, but rich in Christian values and faith. No one at that time could have envisioned that this weak and sickly child would become the buzz of middle-eastern societies and for so many decades. He was known as Dahesh (an Arabic word that means “astounding”) due to his endowment with supernatural powers.

Many interpreted his powers as magic or derived from satin, but for the few that got to know him over the years, he personified a Spiritual Entity of enormous power—namely, that of Lord Christ. He did not boast about his powers, rather he was as humble and modest as a human being can be. He worked very hard throughout his 75 years shy 2 months of his life on earth at preparing his Spiritual Message to the world. He wrote tens of books and met with thousands upon thousands of people, yet only a few followed him. His Spiritual Message is known as Daheshism and its aim is Spiritual Guidance for those of open heart and mind.

Over 23 years ago, he departed from this world leaving us the responsibility to promote Daheshism—a task that we accept with honor and pride, yet at times seems to be an impossible task. How could we talk to a heavily mechanized and materialistic world about spirituality without being labeled as irrational? How do we present Daheshism to the world? How do we compete with other faiths? The truth of the matter it is not our skills that would lead people to accept Daheshism, rather, they already posses the right “Sayyalat” (Spiritual Fluids) that will lead them to acceptance. All we need to do is our part and the rest lies in the hands of the Divine.

We can look at history for lessons and realize that the twelve Disciples of Christ, who were closest to him, did not spread Christianity, but rather it was an outsider named Saul (St. Paul), a persecutor of Christians, who saw the “light” and delivered Christianity to the world. Likewise, the Spirit may select a total stranger to us in order to proclaim Daheshism to the world. Did the hard work and suffering of Dahesh go to waste by having his closest disciples procrastinate the proclamation of Daheshism? No, absolutely not. It is my understanding that through a Spiritual Message that I have seen with my own eyes that Daheshism will not spread until the “Book of Daheshism” is written and published by an individual who spent years and years with the Beloved Prophet receiving instructions from the Holy Spirit. This individual is getting old and a lot of work must be finished before he is recalled to the unknown. If for some reason or another, this individual is unable to finish the task, it is not difficult for the Holy Spirit to find a replacement. For a while, I thought of the possibility that Daheshism may be an aborted Mission, however, after taking into consideration all the efforts and the suffering of Dahesh, it would be absurd to even think this way. Daheshism is a reality and is here to stay and grow.

Is there unity among Daheshists? If unity did not exist between the early Christians, why should we expect unity here? After all, we are human beings! Right? On the one hand, we all have a difference of opinion on how best to proceed. On the other hand we are not living at an era where a person loses his/her life simply by promoting a religion. We don’t have the persecutions that the early Christians faced. We live in an open society with freedom of expression and access to the instant airing of our views through the Internet.

What would Dahesh like us to do on June 1st, the anniversary of his 98th birthday? One thing for sure, he would ask us to love and respect each other and then follow the Spiritual Instructions that were handed down to us decades ago and to specific Spiritual Instructions that were handed to a select few. He may then ask us what are we waiting for? He may remind us of his saying (I paraphrase): “The life of the timid is unworthy of living.” This reminds me of what is written in Luke (9:59-62) “He said to another man, “follow me.” But the man said, “Sir, first let me go back and bury my father.” Jesus answered, “Let the dead bury their own dead. You go and proclaim the Kingdom of God.” Another man said, “I will follow you sir, but first let me go and say good-bye to my family.” Jesus said to him, “Anyone who starts to plow and then keeps looking back is of no use for the Kingdom of God.”

Despite all of this, many of the so-called followers of Christ lost big time by not taking advantage of an opportunity that may not pass by them for thousands of reincarnations. I hope this does not happen to the followers of Dahesh by having them come up with lame excuses pertaining to careers, social and family ties, nationalism, or fear. May this June 1st be a blessed one and the beginning of a wonderful era for Daheshism marked with cooperation, respect, dedication, and faith, while shedding away any arrogance, character assassination, and pretension.

Daheshism is new to me. I am still trying to absorb what I can. My feeling of affinity with his ideology has little to do with talk of miracles, but more to do with something I can only describe as an intuitive feeling about his ideas.

In regard to your comment about Paul, one might want to keep an open mind. If as you say that only those with the right spiritual fluids will be lead to acceptance, maybe a low profile is desired. Then only those who seek diligently will find Daheshism.

Too much attention would attract not only the true believers, but also the fickle people who are looking for a distraction from their current misery.
Whether this will serve this worlds urgent need for attention is another matter.

In what I have read of Saleem El-Ashi, he was reluctant to see every visitor. He did turn people away. Supposedly because he could see into their heart or their true nature.

To compare Ghazi Brax to Paul may be unfair to him. Unfair because of the huge role that Paul played and which Mr Brax may not be prepared to do.

As for my own needs, I only wish that more of the Arabic writing had been translated. But I am prepared to be patient. The information is flowing to me however slowly.

      Dear Ron,

In my opinion, there are many roles that miracles play in Daheshism. One role is strengthening the faith of the individual witnessing the miracle by demonstrating the Power of the Spirit. Another role is a clear authentication of the identity of the miracle performer. One can argue that Christianity may not have evolved and spread had Jesus not been endowed with the Power of the Spirit? Yet, another role is the explanation of the miracle itself and why things happen in a certain way. If you feel that miracles are not important to your faith, I can only recite what Lord Christ said to Thomas: "Do you believe because you see me? How happy are those who believe without seeing me!” (John 20:29)

Daheshism needs to be presented to the masses and then it is up to the individuals to accept or reject it using their own free will. Christianity was presented to the masses and was not reserved for the elite. By presenting Daheshism to the masses, it may awaken in the individuals certain dormant Sayyalat (spiritual fluids) that may serve to acceptance of Daheshism, to improve this person's life and spirituality, or to act in indicting his/her actions. It is not up to us to withhold Daheshism from the masses.

Dahesh saw the people that he needed to see. It was not up to him individually to make that determination, but rather through Spiritual Guidance.

As to Ghazi Brax, you don't know this individual the way many Daheshists and myself know him. Your point is understandable since you don't know all the facts about who he is and what he has done for Daheshism. For the record, it is known to many Daheshists that he is endowed with a Sayyal (spiritual fluid) from St. Paul. His role in Daheshism is not different from St. Paul's in Christianity. The things he saw and the Spiritual Instructions that he was given over years and years with Dahesh are incredible. My advice to you is not to believe everything you hear about Ghazi Brax or others without having a chance to judge them through your own experiences. There are thousands of pages that he had written about Dahesh and Daheshism that are not yet published.

As to the translation of the Arabic books, I am with you 100%. The books should have been translated and presented to the people a long time ago.

      Sincerely,

      Mounir Murad

Please understand, I am not critical of Dr Brax. My only interaction was a single email where I requested clarification about a document and expressed that I was having difficulty obtaining a copy. Within a short time I received a response offering guidance and a promise to provide a copy at no cost. The promise was kept.

I only meant that he quite likely has already provided a great service and his time may be growing short.

In regard to the masses, I am afraid they are quite fickle. Many are fair weather believers, jaded, skeptics and materialistic people. Too many of them would rather attend NASCAR races than pray.

You are right about the roles that miracles can play, but without the miracle worker, the skeptics will not linger long. A miracle witnessed first hand is very impressive.

My personal perspective on miracles is that if you watch life closely, you will see them frequently, especially in response to prayer. Unfortunately, they are often not as dramatic as people would like.

        Sincerely,

        Ron

          Dear Ron,

Yes, the world is materialistic and is full skeptics, however, all we can do is present our case and those who are moved will produce a fruit. Those who are not will not care and continue with their existence. Ultimately, the Divine has a plan and we have no details.

In the next few weeks, I will be posting several documents that will shed more lights on Dahesh and Daheshism.

As to miracles, yes they are in all creation.

          Sincerely,
